1. Buy an Eco Board, or Biofoam board. These boards are made with various plant-based products and are produced using less non-renewable energy. Visit these links to find out more about 'em and how you can get one:

2. Wax your board down with a natural or organic surf wax. You may not realize it, but your fave surf wax may be harmful to the environment. Synthetic surfboard waxes are usually petroleum or crude oil based, but natural waxes use materials such as beeswax and pine resin to create a no-slip grip. There are many natural and organic surf waxes to choose from, here are a few we found:
Morgan & McHale hive surf wax
Wet Women Surf Wax
Wet Sand for Green Surf Wax

3. Before you hit the water, suit up in new boardshorts made from recycled materials. You can find all kinds of recycled and environmentally friendly material at sites such as evo.com.

4. Walk, skate, or bike down to your home surf break. If you are too far away from your fave spot to ped it, use public transportation or car pool with buddies. You can find slings & bike racks to help you tote your board at Wet Sand.

5. After your eco-conscious session, stop & "pick up 3" pieces of trash from the beach. It doesn't seem like much, but if every person picked up 3 pieces of trash, every time they visit the beach or take a walk around their 'hood, we would see a huge difference. Find out more at pickup3.org.
